SP'24 Project #2 Brainstorm Blog

Brainstorm Blog #2

For project number two I want to refocus on combining the AI generated artwork with the physical Painting. I have made several prints of the AI artwork that I want to paint on top of or cut up and combine/collage with drawings and paintings. This is extremely experimental and I’m not completely sure stylistically where it is going to go. I want this works to still remain cohesive with the paintings and animations that I was currently working on relating to raves, party culture, glitter, campiness etc. I’m wondering if I can push the work to become more abstract thinking about artists I look up to like Christina quarles, trey abdella.

I’m working through how to verbalize the importance of the combination of the printed digital work with the paint. The connection between machine and human and creating a feedback loop is important to me in my work. I also am thinking about control and how much I am giving/taking. I am also missing pixilation, digital cubist aesthetics, and the glitch so I wonder if there’s a way for me to collage that in the work or integrate it in my current projects. My concern is that by doing this I’m talking about too many things and not as focused as I should be. What do you think about this?

I’m also wondering if I create more animations based off of these works if I can print them out and have them be their own artwork in and of itself. I’m not sure about this idea yet but I am working through what this could mean in addition to the work I am already creating.
